Tamara Phone:
Tamara Phone is the first Jicarilla Apache Scholarship recipient. She began an undergraduate program at New Mexico Highlands University in the spring of 2011 in Environmental Science. She was born and raised in Dulce, New Mexico on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. Tamara is the daughter of Galvin Phone. Upon completion of her degree, Tamara hopes to return to Dulce to help promote stewardship on the reservation. She is a role model for young children to continue their education and encourage the choice to seek careers in conservation.
